Adam Hoffman is a partner at Russ August & Kabat, where he practices in the intellectual property and litigation departments. While at Russ August & Kabat, Mr. Hoffman has represented plaintiffs in patent litigation resulting in tens of millions of dollars in settlements, against a wide range of high-tech companies, including Microsoft, Apple, RIM, HP, Barnes & Noble, Dell, Sony, HTC, and Sanyo, among others. In 2011, Mr. Hoffman was part of a trial team that obtained an $11.6 million jury verdict for Clear With Computers against Hyundai, in Clear with Computers LLC v. Hyundai Motor America Inc., No. 6:09-cv-00479 (E.D. Tex.). Prior to joining Russ August & Kabat, Mr. Hoffman was an associate at Irell & Manella LLP from 2002 to 2009, where he was a member of the litigation and IP litigation work groups. While at Irell & Manella, Mr. Hoffman litigated patent infringement and licensing disputes for high-tech companies – including the award of over $400 million in infringement and contempt damages in TiVo v. EchoStar Communications Corp., No. 2-04-cv-01 DF (E.D. Tex.) – and copyright and licensing disputes for entertainment companies. Mr. Hoffman graduated from Duke University School of Law (magna cum laude), where he was articles editor of the Duke Law Journal. Following graduation, Mr. Hoffman served as a law clerk for the Honorable Margaret Morrow, U.S. District Court, Central District of California. |
