Jules Kabat is a founding partner of Russ August & Kabat, where he practices in both the corporate and finance and litigation departments.

Mr. Kabat serves as lead trial and appellate counsel in complex real property, business and construction litigation. His parallel real property and business transactional representation of clients provides him with the ability to perceive and protect crucial business issues as they arise and would impact litigation.

Mr. Kabat's transactional experience in the real property industry involves all aspects of office, commercial, industrial, residential and mixed-use development and redevelopment, including development agreements, entitlements, owning entity and joint venture agreements, lending and restructuring documentation, redevelopment agency agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leasing documentation, construction documentation, and environmental and remediation agreements.

This practical transactional experience, in turn, underlies Mr. Kabat's trial and appellate representation of clients. As plaintiffs' counsel, for example, he has established and vindicated constitutionally protected vested personal and property rights against governmental usurpation by the cities of Los Angeles and Santa Monica, obtained damages for lost profits, expenses and remediation relative to contaminated property, obtained reformation of loan amount, structure and documentation to correct errors and unknown and changing circumstances in the underlying transactions, and extensive other litigation. Illustrative of his defense work is his representation of a client in which he defeated a regional shopping center class action fraud litigation involving hundreds of plaintiffs and hundreds of millions of dollars of asserted damages, judicial foreclosures, receiverships, loan documentation disputes, housing and construction disputes, and title claims.

From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Kabat was recognized as a Super Lawyer by the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine.
