KENT SHUM is an associate at Russ August & Kabat, where he specializes in intellectual property and litigation. His patent-litigation experience includes technologies in the computer, consumer-electronics, software, telecommunications, medical-device, defense, and automotive industries. He is also a registered patent attorney, and represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in post-grant proceedings.

Mr. Shum was previously an attorney at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP. He clerked for Judge Otis D. Wright, II of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Shum was a principal hardware engineer at Hewlett Packard Co., leading technical teams in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of enterprise-class server, storage, and network systems. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of California, and is a co-inventor on two patents in the field of computer hardware.
