Raquel Vallejo is an associate at Russ August & Kabat, where she practices in the litigation department.
Ms. Vallejo's practice focuses on complex business disputes, real estate, and intellectual property litigation. Ms. Vallejo has extensive experience litigating disputes arising out of the formation, performance and dissolution of corporate and partnership agreements; corporate governance issues; banking; real estate transactions; and patents and trade secrets.
Ms. Vallejo’s experience includes both state and federal trials, as well as domestic and international arbitrations. In 2003, she obtained for her client -- the owner of one of Los Angeles’ largest sports and entertainment arenas -- a unanimous jury verdict against million dollar claims of violations of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other civil rights laws, as well as emotional distress and negligence claims. Ms. Vallejo also tried several other cases to defense verdict, including by unanimous jury.
Ms. Vallejo has worked on class actions alleging unfair competition, federal Truth in Lending Act violations, and other consumer law violations, and disputes arising out of bank financing of independent feature films and international film distribution contracts. Ms. Vallejo's most recent published decision is a California Supreme Court opinion in Sterling v. Taylor, S121676. In that case, the California Supreme Court agreed with Ms. Vallejo's analysis that the plaintiff’s claimed multi-condominium purchase contract was unenforceable under the writing requirements of the statute of frauds.
While at the UCLA School of Law, Ms. Vallejo was the Chief Justice of the UCLA Moot Court Board and was a staff member of the UCLA Women's Law Journal.
