Russ August & Kabat’s patent trial team won a patent infringement verdict on behalf of its client Headwater Research LLC against Verizon Communications on July 24, 2025. The jury found Verizon infringed both of Headwater’s asserted patents and awarded $175,000,000 in damages. The trial team included Marc Fenster, Reza Mirzaie, Brian Ledahl, Ben Wang, Dale Chang, Kris Davis, Adam Hoffman, Minna Jay, Mackenzie Paladino, James Pickens, James Tsuei, Philip Wang, Jason Wietholter, and Andrea Fair of Miller Fair Henry PLLC. This win follows a verdict of more than $278 million against Samsung for infringing two other Headwater patents in April.
